Personality & Traits

General Overview Laurel is more of a loner most of the time but will work within the confines of a team when it is called for. She tends to be more hands on than theoretical in her approach to engineering problems.
Strengths & Weaknesses Laurel is strongest in her abilities with the computer systems. She is also well trained on various systems found on a starship and can learn new systems from other various species fairly quickly. She is well versed in Warp engineering and field generation as well as an avid student of ship design. She loves to work with her hands on the physical parts of the ship she is able to. Although she can get too absorbed in her work at times.

Her weakest trait would be her ability to interact with others. She relates better to the ship she is on than to the crew residing on it. She isn’t unfriendly, just uncomfortable.
Ambitions Laurel's ambitions are probably just like so many other engineers, Chief of the Engineering at Star Fleet Headquarters at some future date. Before that she wants to be the best ships chief engineer she can be.
Hobbies & Interests Designing various pieces of technology is something that interests her. She also studies various forms of self-defense as well as weapons. She likes music and will sometimes sing along with music she is listening to.

Personal History Laurel has always been what her mother called headstrong. She has a history of pushing away people she feels are trying to make her change. Because of this she only had a few close friends growing up. But those friends she did have were loyal and steadfast. Laurel spent a lot of time making sure that she was well skilled at whatever she tried. This often led to long nights of study or physically challenging exercise programs. Once such program was self defense. Laurel is well versed in several styles of hand-to hand combat. She also is a talented musician. She does not sing, but she enjoys playing violin and often plays as a way to relax when she is stressed. As a child Laurel was more interested in how things worked. And more often than not she got in trouble for pulling some piece of equipment apart to see how all the parts worked together. Most of the time she had no problem putting it back together.
Service Record Laurel grew up on Earth and was accepted to the academy upon completion of her third year at Starling City Technical School. She graduated in the top ¼ of her class. Upon graduation she was posted as an engineering crewman on the USS Kennedy.
