Personal Log: Calling Home.
By: Heather Argeneau

After everything, Heather had been so close, and yet so far from home that she needed that connection to her family. Heather sat before the console in the quarters she shared with Morgensen and waited for her mother to open the connection for communicating. It honestly didn't take long. Lissianna Argeneau-Hewitt's face appeared on the console before her, her father Gregory Hewitt sitting on the couch in the background a newspaper open on his lap.

Lissianna smiled softly at her youngest daughter, "Well this is a surprise? I wasn't expecting a call home so soon, though, it is good to see you," The woman said neither looked the right age if someone outside the family were to see Heather talking to her mother there was no way they would know that they were mother and daughter. The family resemblance was obvious, but age-wise they looked to be the same the only difference was Lissianna's eyes were older than Heather's.

"Hey mom, how is everything? Dad, you still reading the paper the old way rather than using a PaDD or console?" Heather asked in that teasing tone enjoying the familiar family scene.

She hadn't been able to call her parents or any member of her family when they were on the other side of the wormhole. Hell, she didn't even know if her family line had existed beyond the wormhole, there had been no time to investigate and learn if her family line had existed or not so there was no point in worrying about it. But it was good to be able to see her mom like this.

"Everythings good, too quiet with your older sister Lucy always traveling. She's changed her profession again she's no longer a teacher, but an archeologist. I guess you've rubbed off on her now she wants a little adventure. Nothing like what you're doing as a ship's Medical doctor," Lissianna beamed with pride, ok so she hadn't been too pleased with Heather's decision to leave home and join Starfleet without telling anyone, but she was proud of her daughter for going into the medical field like most of the rest of her family.

"Hey, there is nothing at all like a good old book or paper in your hand. Not everything needs to be electronic you know," Came Gregory's predictable answer that always made Heather feel right at home. Her dad never changed and Heather preferred that to him constantly changing.

"Good I'm glad Lucy needs to find some excitement I was starting to think she'd be an old maid forever." The young doctor said with a teasing giggle. Sadly Lucy had yet to find her lifemate. Being a teacher did not leave room for meeting a lot of people outside your students and their parents. Finding a single Dad among them wasn't exactly commonplace.

"I just finished an interesting shakedown cruise and well it made me long to hear your voices is all. I was thinking maybe the next chance I had I'd come home for a visit." Heather told them honestly. "You haven't really properly met Magnus, other than through Uncle Lucian or through communications," Heather added softly, but also truthful.

Lissianna looked to her husband who upon hearing Heather voice these thoughts fold his newspaper and moved to sit forward on the couch. "What's going on Little bit?"

Heather looked to her parents wondering what she should tell them. "It's the shakedown cruise, It took an interesting turn, but one that cut me off from home and hearth. Basically, we were out of place and we had to find our way back." Heather said softly not wanting to say much over comms. "I'll tell you more about that adventure when I come home for a visit," Heather said with a soft laugh as if it were nothing important.

"You sure your ok baby?" Lissianna asked softly looking concerned for her daughter.

"Yeah mom, don't worry, you'll be on the edge of your seat when I tell you," Heather grinned, "I mostly wanted to say hi this time and see your faces hear your voices," Heather admitted.

With that conversation changed to what was going on back home. Heather laughed as she heard about her cousin's antics. How uncle Lucian was working on a rogue vampire and aunt Leigh was working with him. The sun was rising by the time they called it a night and said goodbye.

"Love you, mom, Dad," Heather said with a soft smile.

"We love you, baby," Her parents said together before ending the call.
