Muffy Harrington
Muffy woke from her nap and felt so much better. She checked on Toulaine and found her sound asleep still and Muffy was glad of that. She often worried about Toulaine and how many pain killers she has and uses. However there was little she could do but support her friend through this rough period of time.
Then she went out to prepare the shipment to Ravynn. She packed half a cow and half a hog and the half a pig was brown sugar and maple cured half a hog with plenty of pork belly for bacon and pork belly and hams and chops and ribs and sausage and well, anything you could want from a swine to eat. She also threw in some young chickens and rabbits and duck and goose, and a couple of turkeys. She debated for a moment and then put in half a sheep as well. The beef and mutton/lamb was raw, but dry aged and ready to be cut and enjoyed. Then she put them all into the containers for them and hit the stasis control, so the meat would stay fresh and wonderful for as long as Ravynn wanted.
Next she went through the different gardens. She picked herbs and made a packet of them. Then she picked different greens, some you would have to cook down and some could be eaten fresh, like different lettuces, cabbage, collard, mustard, dandelion, kale, arugula, etc. She also picked cucumbers, various peppers from the mild bell of differing colors, anaheim, jalapeno, habanero, poblano, and hatch chiles peppers. She also added a couple of ghost chili pepper and Carolina reaper chili peppers, just in case she and her new family enjoyed the heat. She harvested some carrots and various baby potatoes like russet, yukon gold, red, kennebec, russian blue, purple, and pink ones.
As she was walking through her gardens, she also found some corn on the cob that was ready so she added that, and some zucchine, yellow crookneck, acorn, hubbard, pumpkin, and spaghetti squashes. She also added green beans, yellow beans, peas, turnips, beets, rutabagas, brussel sprouts, and then she got some of the giant baking potatoes. As she gathered all of this, she was again thankful for the growing seasons in Texas as well as the various greenhouses that allowed for crops to be at different stages at the same time, as well as year round.
Next she gathered raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, gooseberries, tomatillos, elderberries, and loganberries. Then she moved to the table grapes and picked the globe grapes in green, purple, and red, the same with the normal shaped green, purple, and red seedless grapes. She also had some of the cotton candy grapes she included for fun. Then she picked some red delicious, green delicious, granny smith, fuji, honeycrisp, and gala apples. Peaches, pears, plums, apricots, and cherries of the bing, pie, and sweet dark. She went to the greenhouse and gathered oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, mandarins, and clementines. She also moved to a different greenhouse and picked some dates and figs and various olives.
All the fresh produce went into other packages and also put in stasis. Finally, she went to store rooms and selected some jams and jellies and fruit juices, such as raspberry jam, strawberry jam, mixed berry jam, grape jelly, caramel apple jam, cherry jelly, orange marmalade, apricot and pineapple jam, pear jam and peach jam. She added the melon juice, apple juice, grape juice, cherry juice, orange juice, mixed citrus juice, mixed berry juice, pineapple juice, mango juice, passion fruit juice, starfruit juice and the recipe of how to mix several in the things like tropical punch, and such.
Then she went to cold room with the dairy in it and got several pounds of fresh butter, different cheeses, sour cream, heavy whipping cream, cottage cheese, cream cheese, yogurt, and ice cream in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, chocolate chip, mint chip, and butter pecan. She put all the dairy into stasis and into another package and the other items into another package. She looked at the small mountain of stuff she was sending Ravynn. She giggled and hoped that it didn’t overwhelm her former captain and friend.
Then she put it all into an industrial sized crate and called for a supple drone. She was told it would be four hours. So she got a grin on her face and ran inside and started on another project that wouldn’t take too long. She decided to make butt pillows for Ravynn’s whole family. She looked her up in the Starfleet personnel records and counted a mate, a niece, and an adopted son for the mate. So four and then she remembered what Toulaine had said and included a fifth, but the fifth was made for a crib or bassinet and then be able to be used as a pillow when a child grew from an infant and into adulthood and made a matching blanket, in pale greens and purples. Then she included this package in with the food.
Finally the drone arrived and she packed it up with everything and with some tetris like moves, she was able to fit it all in. Then she programmed the drone to go to the USS Excelsior to Ravynn Phoenix. It would have to be put in a shuttle bay and then beamed to her quarters bit by bit or in a single stack using the industrial transporter.
She watched the drone lift off and shoot off into space. It would take a week to get to the Excelsior. She would have liked to have seen the look on Ravynn’s face, but she was sure that Ravynn would call her and either tell her off for sending so much, or laugh and thank her for sending so much. She really wasn’t sure. But it let her friend know she was missed and still thought of fondly by her former crew.
