Kai Makorie

Makorie finished with her notes. She checked the time again and nodded. It was time. The hour was 0300, all senior officers were asleep and the nightwatch was in the middle of shift and everyone would be complacent at this hour. She set the program into motion.

Leaving the notes on her desk for the Captain and anyone else who wanted and needed to look at them, they detailed everything her department had discovered so far about the planet below them. From here out, it was simply a matter of putting together the facts to get the answers, any of them could do it. She also left a message to the Captain alone, secured so that only the Captain could open it.

The pack was small and fit around her waist under her uniform. She walked through the corridors as she had many times, a padd in her hand, working on something. She didn't pay much attention to anyone around her and they didn't seem to pay attention to her in turn. It was easier that way. She moved into the shuttle bay and the shuttle she had picked out before hand. It was warp capable and self-sustaining. While not an expert pilot, she knew her way around the basics enough to not crash a shuttle. Then she began the next phase of the program and opened the shuttle bay doors, deactivated the shield, and slowly guided the shuttle out. She closed the hanger doors behind her and reactivated the shield. By the time Alpha shift knew what had happened, she would be gone.

With the complete loss of anyone she considered family and being in a new part of space that the Federation had never before been to or explored, this was her chance at a clean slate. It didn't matter to her if she died out there alone, at least she was doing something for her for the first time in her life. Perhaps she would find a civilization that she could blend into and start over. Perhaps she would find a planet to inhabit all on her own without having anyone else around and know total peace. It was odd, that concept of peace and what it meant to different people. For some it was the ending of hostilities. For others it was coming to terms with something. For her....well, she honestly didn't have any idea what it would mean to her, not yet. But she was on a quest to find the answer.

She had left the Captain the hybrid rose she had been working on for the past few years. It wasn't finished yet, but perhaps the Captain would find joy in it. She also thanked the Captain for allowing her to serve on such a fine ship with such a fine crew. She explained her reasoning for this desertion and she asked that her personal wishes be respected. She also said she would try to find a way to get the shuttle back to them, when possible.

Once the Roddenberry was again secure, Makorie smiled and put in a random course out into the unknown and jumped to warp. "I go now, to face the unknown, and hopefully, make peace with myself." She said to herself. "Live long and Prosper, crew of the Roddenberry. May whatever gods you believe in watch over you and protect you and give each of you your own personal peace."
