Mission:
Where do we go from here?
Location: Main Engineering, R&D Section
Morgensen was working diligently on the probes, despite of the fact that there was obviously something else on his mind. In all truth, the modifications to the probes wouldn't have taken nearly as long as they had if he wasn't constantly worried about his wife, Heather, and her recent illness. "Nothing seems to help her..." He muttered. As much as he didn't want to leave her side, he knew the crew needed his expertise in their research. "I just wish I could get this done faster so I could check on her."
Based on the simulations with the particle defractor and the tachyon emitter, they were indeed being able to 'push' aside most of the radioactive interference, and the tachyon particles were in fact giving an easy telemetry on the probe's flight path through the interference. Now they were simply trying to get the bussard collection systems fine-tuned to 'scrape' up any of the radioactive materials they were pushing aside.
Groaning and rubbing his eyes a moment, he had realized just how tired and how much stress he was undergoing, and he couldn't keep fighting against his will to help. It was then he received the notification from Sickbay about the news... He and Heather were expecting a child! A huge sigh of relief escaped his lips, and a smile crept his face. He stood, moving to the replicator nearest him. "Energy Supplement 152, chilled." Fetching the mug from inside, he took a few gulps, coughed a bit, and looked around. "Something still doesn't feel right... Something's out of place..." His instincts were usually never misguided, but the realization of what it may be was often too late to change... and that had him worried...
