Mission: Where do we go from here?
Location: Caorridor between Bridge and Turbolift

Joint post between LtJG Laurel Lance and Ens Juglans Regia

=Start Log=
Laurel began to leave the bridge hitting her com badge to inform engineering of her current assignment
“ Lance to Engineering. I have to go down to the planet for a little bit. Dimitri, please keep an eye on that radiation level.” She finished the com just as she exited the bridge to go get the radiation suit for the away mission.

As the Roddenberry kept a geosynchronous orbit above the landing site, this allowed Ensign Regia to take a break. He understood that Ensign, no, Lt. JG Lance had been tasked on the away team. Lately radiation plagued both the ship and this sudden rescue mission. Perhaps his fear of this invisible foe buried itself deep in his psyche, or perhaps the holovids in school reminded him how serious it all was. Space is a dangerous business. Now one of his only friends on the ship is destined to meet radiation head on. Juglans headed around the corner and spotted her. "Lance!" His paced quickened. "Laurel!"

Laurel turned to Juglans and smiled, "Hey! Juglans, sorry I didn't say hello. It was sort of hectic in there." She pointed towards the bridge, "Is it always that crazy?" Laurel laughed nervously, trying not to let Juglans see how this away mission had her rattled.

"Yes, but lately I have tried to concentrate on my navigation and less on who I want to change into," he huffed. "Just once I want to change into the Captain and order someone to do...something." His expression brightened at the prospect. "I heard you are going down to this planet?"

Laurel chuckled, "While that would be sort of funny, I would hate to see you get into trouble." She shifted a little and glanced towards the turbolift and nodded, "Yes, It would appear so, although I am not sure what good bringing an engineer will do at this point. The planets been irradiated, I'm surprise that anything is even working down there."

Juglans nodded at her gesture. "They may have prepared for something like this, hardening it against radiation. Look for lead and other alloys. Maybe they built a bunker underground." His eyes widened again. "Maybe they will have a weapon to defuse...wait, that sounds terrible." He walked up close to her personal space. "I could change into you and take your place if you are having second thoughts."

Laurel shook her head slowly, "I won't lie to you, Jugs. This does make me nervous. But I can't let you go in my place. That would be dereliction of duty, and lets face it, You wouldn't have the same skill set. You need to stay here and I need to go." Laurel reached out and took his hand in hers, "I promise I'll be careful."(edited)

Her gesture caught him off guard, but he tried to not let the shock cross his face. "Make sure your radiation sensor is working in sync with the others. Exposure of one is exposure for all." He thought. "Oh, make sure you don't stay in one location for too long if it has high radiation levels as the computer won't be able to lock on you."

Laurel nodded and smiled, "I will keep an eye on the rest of the away team, look for rooms with lead and other alloys, and keep out of high radiation areas as much as possible." Laurel knew she had to go get suited up for the mission and she glanced towards the Bridge a moment, "Jugs, thank you, my friend. I will be as careful as I can. You just keep the ship in one piece so I, umm, we have a place to return to. Radiation levels up here can get dangerous too!"

Juglans released her hand. "I'll see you when you get back."

Laurel smiled and let go of his hand, "Yes, when I get back I'll tell you all about my mini vacation on the surface, or under it rather." She headed off and boarded the turbo lift and turned as the doors closed and gave him a little wave.
