Joint Duty/Personal Log: The unknown becomes known.
By: Heather Argeneau-Morgensen & Persia Lionmane

Heather was feeling slightly better, enough so that she was able to get out of bed. The young immoral was actually, still surprised that she was feeling ill, to begin with. All of her life she had been told that the nanobots inside her bloodstream would keep her healthy and immune from every and all diseases that could harm the human body. Of course, that was also earthbound viruses, diseases, and illnesses.

However, Heather had been on various away missions and none have before caused her to feel anything like it. Having a degree in medical science had allowed her to keep up with her nanites inside of her body and they have continued to act as they should. So why then was she sick now. It did not make any sense to her.

Standing from her bed dressed in civilian clothing rather than her uniform. Heather clutched the dresser by the bed as she was hit with a wave of dizziness and nausea. Closing her eyes and swallowing several times until she got her system under control. Heather then moved to leave the quarters she shared with Morgensen. Her destination was Sickbay. She needed to run some tests if she was going to find some answers.

Seeing heather having arrived and is well gives her a gentle wave "Hello Heather. I am glad you are well I was worried about you it had been some time since we last spoke let alone saw each other I do apologize for that work is work you know."

Heather smiled at her friend, "Hello, Persia," She said pausing to catch her breath, "It would seem that I am not as well as you would seem to think but I do understand your need to work. I could probably use your help, in finding out why it is I am not feeling, as well as, normal. My nanites should prevent me from getting sick like this." Heather explained to Persia one of the few people outside of the command team that she has told this too.

"Hmm. My guess is the radiation. Might have caused damage to the nanites Radiation cause extreme heat and fry the circuitry nanites are machines after all."

"It could, that is not wrong, but if that were the case then Morgensen should also be feeling these effects," Heather said pausing by a biobed and putting a hand to her mouth. "I think a blood test may be in order." Heather smiled at Persia.

"Alrighty then be still and I'll get the equipment."

Heather gave a nod and moved to sit on the biobed.

Getting a syringe and pausing for another flashback of the white incident shake's her head and continue's to push onward with the task.

Heather watched her reaction to the hypo understanding it and said nothing for now.

Getting gloves on then going over to the disinfectants to prep the blood draw from Heather's arm. She cleans off the arm then injects her to draw out enough blood to fill the hypo after the task was done she removes the hypo and sticks a smiley face bandaid on the injection site.

She then head's over to the analysis station and begins to analyze the blood as she reads the computer to tell her the information she needs. After she gets done with the analysis she goes to the microscope to get a bird's eye view of the situation she gave heather a lollipop as she passed by.

Looking at the blood sample she concludes "Well let me ask you this. You had the nanites 1st right? Is Morgensen's nanite's the same as yours as well?"

"Yes because they came from me. and my blood. I was born with them so yes I had them first." Heather said the nanites that Persia would study would for, as far as, she knew be working at optimal and were showing no signs of radiation poisoning.

"Well then it's not the radiation thankfully it's age. The nanites are outdated and beginning to act up."

"We should probably run other tests then." Heather moved to get off the biobed to help run those tests. then instead decided to lay down, "Have the biobed run a diagnostic on me if you would." Heather asked softly. The nanites would show no sign of aging or degradation of any kind.

"Hmm okay then." Running the biobed diagnostic test she finds that Heather was indeed right.

However, if Persia looked closely she would find that there was a second heartbeat going on.

Her eye's widened as she smiled gleefully. "Heather your not sick your expecting! You're going to have a baby!"

Heather's eyes widen slightly in surprise, "Well now that is unexpected, but happy news I will need to break this to Morgensen at some point it would seem." Heather said laughing slightly no longer upset that she was sick.

"I will relieve you to light-duty don't want to stress the baby right?
What your feeling is morning sickness and an increased appetite."

"No we don't, thank you Persia for helping me find out why I have been under the weather." Heather smiled happily.

"You'll be tired more often and maybe your ankles might swell."

"well, I'll work on that as the time comes." Heather grinned.

"But otherwise, you are healthy and so is the little one. Let's see how far along are you." Looking at the scans. "Perhaps we might be able to see the gender and if it's more than one."

"Okay, so it seems you've been expecting for a month now meaning 1st trimester it's normal to feel the sickness your feeling in the 1st trimester. We won't know the gender yet."

"I'd rather be surprised on the gender anyways." Heather grinned.

"We'll have to wait till I wanna say the next checkup at month 4. Oh, I see okay then Well find out during the baby shower am I right?" She laughed.

Heather grinned at her friend and colleague, "I think I will head back to my quarters and take a nap, Yes we will more than likely find out then." Heather laughed as well.

"Congrats Heather," She smiled. "I won't tell him don't worry. Beside's I needed a reason to mess with that jarhead." She giggled.

"Thank you, Persia," Heather said getting off the biobed and moved to hug Persia. "Very true." She giggled at the thought.

She hugged back gently as to not harm the baby. "I'll surely be visiting more I know your stubborn so I will say again, LIGHT duty missy. Or I will lock you in your room." She giggled.

"Aye, sir," Heather said with a nod though she probably wouldn't stick to it as Persia knew she wouldn't.
