Duty/Personal Log: Pain, Lots of Pain
By: Heather Argeneau
Heather was manning the Medical station and not really paying attention to anything going on, the doctor was more focused on scanning the surface for any life signs. Being aware of the disturbance between the asteroid belt and the 3rd plant was one thing but she wasn't focused on why the disturbance was there.
As Heather came to the thought of expanding her life signs scans to the asteroid belt as well, there was a strange pressure against the mental barriers she usually kept up when around the crew otherwise she would have complete chaos going on. The main reason Heather kept her mental barriers up was that unlike a betazoid she couldn't turn her telepathy on and off everyone's thoughts would crowd her making it hard to focus. With those mental barriers up she's saved from having to sort through all the thoughts and if she needed to she could focus on one person at a time.
At the moment, however, Heather wasn't trying to use her mental abilities, that didn't stop her from feeling the outcry of a thousand voices in pain. It started out as a mild headache. Soon it felt as if her head was going to explode from the pain, so much so, that she didn't even realize when she gripped the console she worked at, as well as her head, and cried out in pain. Thankfully the pain faded as quickly if not quicker than it had come.
Even as the pain passed Heather was still having a hard time breathing. The pain she'd felt she couldn't describe it, well actually she could. Heather had felt as if she had died a thousand times each one as painful as the last if not more so considering the pain had hit her all at once. There was a black edge around her vision as if she had been close to passing out from the pain.
The pain Heather had felt hadn't been current, it was there and gone too quickly and too strong for it to be current. She was still gripping her console. "Thousands of voices, crying out in pain so much pain." Heather gasped out.
