Personal Log: Worried Thoughts
By: Lt. Heather Argeneau, MD
With a little over a month left to her pregnancy left, Heather had found herself relieved of duty. It wasn't as if she couldn't roam though, unfortunately, as the Chief Medical officer, there wasn't much to do.
Heather nibbled at her lower lip as she walked through the doors of the crew lounge to get some food. Being that she was still in fact human, the life growing inside of her still needed actual food not just blood. What had the young (by immortal standards, not human considering she was 129 years old now.) doctor worrying at her lower lip though wasn't what to eat, but the fact that she was keeping a small secret.
Only three people would know that secret, the Captain, the XO, and Persia who as a science officer and former medical officer had been helping Heather with her prenatal care. The only reason it was still unknown was that Heather hadn't exactly had time to tell Magnus. Both of them were busy...
Ok, maybe that was an excuse...
They weren't so busy that they couldn't talk and have lunch or something. Heather wasn't exactly sure how to tell Magnus that she wasn't carrying one child, but rather two. Twins sometimes ran in her family her Aunt had a set of twins, her grandfather was a set of twins really even though he had died long before she was born her grandfather had been uncle Lucian's identical twin brother.
Granted with his hearing Magnus might already know and just hasn't let on he knew because it wouldn't have mattered. Could they handle more than one child? Did he worry about this as she did considering they had originally only expected one child?
Unfortunately, these are questions that Heather did not have answers to because she had basically chickened out everytime she thought to talk to him about. If she were honest with herself, the thought of having twins terrified her. Heather had written home to her family telling them all about it. They had told her she should come home.
Heather had flat out refused. She loved her job, and had stated she could handle her family and her career just fine. Of course her mother knew her better than anyone, thankfully Lissianna kept it to herself.
Heather ordered sliced pinapples, a grilled chicken salad with grapes, black olives, and banana peppers in it and a bowl of vanilla ice cream and nacho cheese doritoes already in the ice cream, with a tall glass of water she took her tray to a table and sat down. Using one of the doritoes to scoop some vanilla ice cream and took a bite savoring it wondering how to explain to her husband that they were having twins.
