Personal Log: Nothing but Time
By: Ens. Thea Queen.

As an officer in the science department, Thea had nothing but time on her hands. She wasn't running the department, the young woman didn't make the decisions or deal out the duties to the other officers. Nope, she didn't want that kind of power. At least not right now after all she was only 23-years-old so she liked having some freedom.

Thea's birthday was just around the corner though. January 21st. Then she'd be 24. Still, Thea was happy where she was, doing a good job keeping the experiments well documented and detailed. Nothing too serious, or time-consuming. It left her with some free time.

Ok maybe sometimes too much time. There are times when her old vices came back to haunt her. For instance, her sleep had been disturbed and interrupted with night sweats and dreams of white. Not exactly an ideal night it had her up at well before the sun should be up. At 3 in the morning, Thea couldn't exactly get back to sleep. So with one thought in mind (getting her mind off her dreams and strengthening her willpower), Thea had grabbed an old friend of hers.

At this very moment, no idea what time it was nor did she care she was off duty for the moment, the young woman was dressed in red leather with a red hood and a matching mask. Bow drawn taunt, an arrow notched she let it fly over 250 yards into the center of the target she'd been aiming for.

Before the arrow had hit the target, Thea was grabbing another arrow rolling to the right and watched as that arrow split a previous arrow in the middle 300 yards from her current location. She wasn't as good as her brother with a bow, honestly, Thea knew she'd let her training slide to the wayside. The younger of the Queen siblings though hadn't forgotten everything she learned. Now that she had time on her hands she could get back into her training.

It would be nice to find her knitch in science though. Honestly, she had never looked into the different facets of science to see which one she'd like best. Thea had thought that knowing each facet would serve her well, but it left her unsure where to build her strengths.

Botany allowed her to work with plants possibly experimenting with the genetics of a flower and grafting two different flowers together. But that was already being done really. Molecular or cellular biology would in turn allow her to understand the human body on a molecular level. Well, not just the human body but every species. Not to mention Molecular science which would include non-biological substances.

As Thea thought of these different facets wondering which would suit her best she'd loosed three more arrows each one hitting the target where she wanted directly center. But try as she might Thea wasn't sure where she wanted to focus her studies in Science. This was something that the young woman would need to decide at some point if she was going to push forward with her career in Starfleet science.
