Personal Log: Avoiding if possible.
By: Ens. Thea Queen

Upon first learning that they were returning to the other side, Thea had kept herself as busy as possible. Even, so much so, as to avoid her brother just in case he had any designs on visiting family and dragging her along with him. Their mother had spent every waking moment of Thea's life since Ollie and their father had disappeared - assimilated - which was more accurate. Making Thea either wish she had gone in her brother's place or trying to turn Thea into what she suspected would be as good as Ollie.

Thea had started one science project after another after request, for a change of pace. Honestly, science had never really been Thea's first choice in an assignment. There was nothing wrong with it, she just felt out of place. But, it was one way of avoiding her brother in the hopes that he wasn't planning a visit home. She loved her mother she did, but well she had never been her mother's favorite. She heard a lot 'why can't you be more like your brother Oliver.'

How did one compare to the favorite? Ah well, Thea never cared to be like her brother, at least not the perfect image their mother had of him. So she became more like who he really was to remind their mother that her memory was flawed. It worked though she stopped hearing 'why can't you be more like your brother,' to 'you're going to be my death young lady!' which was somewhat preferable considering it made their mother see her for who she was and not a replacement for her brother.

Thea felt that one reason she avoided her brother was in hopes he'd go and see their mother himself alone and get spoiled just as he probably should since he hadn't been home in like forever. But on the other hand, she just wasn't ready to go home considering she wasn't exactly picked for this assignment in the normal sense of the word. Thea was well just on the ship when she disembarked from DS9 almost 2 or so years ago and kind of just was accepted into the crew because they weren't returning just to drop her back off so instead the captain at the time had her transfer put in and made her a member of his science department.

At this very moment, Thea could be found in her bed burrowed under her covers avoiding life in general. Her last project was still in the works there was an infected plant from one of their last stops it was in a containment field to keep the infection from spreading to the other plants or possibly even the people that called this ship home for the moment. She had been working well into the evening trying to use the plants' cells to find a cure for it. She wasn't exactly having the best of luck either. So Thea was too tired to drag herself from bed and she wasn't due for a shift well for the next two weeks.

However, Thea had forgotten to turn off her alarm for work and with one lazy, sleepy hand the young woman thumped around her bedside table until hitting the chronometer to turn it off. "Shush," She yawned before rolling over and snuggling into her pillow.
