Mission: Where do we go from here?
Location: Earth
Timeline: Backlog - Current

Thea burrowed further under her covers when she thought she heard her door chime ring. She could have sworn that she’d turned it off and locked it but hey, could also be her dream. “Go away.” She muttered as if that would work.

Oliver had a pretty good idea what she was doing. Which, actually, he gave one of the juniors a bottle of real whiskey to stand outside her quarters. Constantly pushing the chime. While he actually beamed into her bathroom and listened while he waited.

Thea groaned and pulled the pillow over her head, that chime was so damn annoying. “Go away!” She growled resisting kicking the blankets off. Unfortunately, the chime had already cut into her lovely dreams. She was going to murder her brother. Growling she got out of bed grabbing the bat by the door to her room and walked to the outer door not caring that she was in shorts and a tank. “What the hell do yo….!” Her voice faded away as she realized it was just a junior officer. “Want?” She finished weakly looking well surprised.

Bill wasn’t surprised to see what she was wearing, or lack of such. Oliver however, had pitched it up much more than that. Just to mess with him and said she would probably be in a teddy. Considering that Oliver knew that Bill liked her. There was just a little bit of disappointment for Oliver lying. At least he still got a good look. “I um..er…sorry, wrong quarters,” turning to walk off.

While she was up now and at the door, Oliver stepped out and just quietly walked over to the door frame and leaned on it. Just waiting for her to turn around so he can stop holding in the laughter.

Thea blinked, a slight blush staining her cheeks. Though she sensed her brother near and knowing he’d duck in time she swung the bat at him and glared, “Ok what exactly did you say to him Ollie! He looked disappointed for some reason.” She growled at her brother.

He didn’t even bother to lean back, or block with his forearm. Simply grabbed the upper part of it to stop it, without looking. “Legs first, you know that,” grinning and letting go. “At least he got a look, just wasn’t what I told him you’d be in.”

Thea arched one brow at her brother, “What exactly did you tell him I’d be wearing? Wait, why did he care what I was wearing?” She asked him, still surprised. “Ollie don’t tell me he had a thing for me or something I probably just scared him off now…” She muttered, leaning the bat by the door and crossed her arms over her chest. “I’m not going by the way.” She told him firmly.

Oliver gave a little bit of a shrug and wandered past her into the living area. Plopping down on the couch. “You hadn’t even bothered to pack yet, my first idea was to just throw cold water on you. Pick you up as it, and carry you to the Transporter room over my shoulder. At least I get a giggle out of it.”

“I wasn’t planning on leaving. I mean she’s just going to faun all over you since she hasn’t seen you in like forever. It would work out better that way.” She shrugged. “That’s why I’m not packed.” Thea said stubbornly.

He held up one finger on his right hand, “And when she’s gone and you wish you’d done this?”

Thea glared at him tapping one foot as she did so. A face was made and a thought crossed her eyes. “Fine.” She muttered and stormed into her bathroom for a quick sonic shower so she didn’t really have to strip. Then into her bedroom where she threw on a blue t-shirt and black cargo pants with matching boots. Grabbed her travel duffle and tossed a couple of sets into it before rejoining him. “Are you happy now?”

“I suppose I guess.” Giving another shrug as he stood up, “Let me guess. You have three pairs of jeans, three pairs of weird shirts, we’re not going to go into the other things. Because you don’t plan on being there but three days.”

Thea rolled her eyes, “No I have one pair of jeans, and two pairs of dress pants and three decent shirts. Otherwise, I’d never hear the end of it, I know mom she doesn’t want me dressing like some ‘hooligan’ as she puts it. Besides whatever’s in this bag can be washed and worn again I don’t need to bring a weeks worth of clothing, and if I need something well, I still have a closet full of things that mom no doubt continued to fill in hopes I’d wear something she likes.”

“Iffin you say so, I suppose. Well grab you a snack, so we can get going.”

Moira Queen could not wait to see her children. Favorite foods were prepped ahead of time and she bought a few gifts for them as well. Looking at her chrono, it wouldn't be long before they arrived.

Thea was rolling her eyes at something Oliver said as they were transporting down, as they rematerialized on her mother’s doorstep she plastered on a smile and waited for Oliver to hit the chime to let their mother know they were there.

Oliver set his bag down next to him, because he knew exactly what was coming. Albeit a little nervous not that it showed outwardly.

“She sure is taking her time coming to the door, I thought you said she’d be home?” Thea sighed and moved to hit the chime again letting her mom know someone was at the door. Though why they didn’t just go in and get it over with was beyond her.

Moira threw the door open and grabbed Thea first in a tender yet small hug and then gave Oliver a hug of death. "My children!!!" Tenderly touching Thea's cheek then doting even more so on her son. "Come in, come in." Never one to lose her composure, she kept tears in check as she looked upon her adult children. "Where have you been? What have you both been up to? Why the mad dash to visit and why haven't you been in sooner?" Taking in a breath she then called for the butler to bring drinks and snacks for them till time for supper.

Thea actually eeped at the sudden hug. “Well um after graduating I went to visit Oliver on the Roddenberry, I hadn’t expected that it would be going out on it’s shakedown cruise and well the Captain at the time kinda just offered me a post since he didn’t want to turn back to drop me off.” Thea said knowing most of her questions were aimed at Oliver.

"That's nice dear so you are on the same ship then? And what do you mean Captain at the time?"

Oliver had already braced for the incoming hug, and of course he returned it. Just not as hard. Giving a side glance to Thea a moment then he was let go. “Yes, she is on the same ship, and you would be very, very proud of her and so would Father.”

"What did she mean Captain at the time, what became of him? Are you on a dangerous ship?"

“No, just that the captain’s have changed hands. That is all that I meant mom, we are in no way on a dangerous ship, at least no more dangerous than any other ship.” Thea told their mother with a shake of her head.

"Thea! Tsk, tsk. What on earth are you wearing? When will you ever dress properly? I have proper attire for both of you for supper." Taking a seat and picking up a glass of tea as the butler set down the trays and quietly excused himself.

“Mom, I am wearing proper clothing, I am wearing what anyone else would wear. I do not see why we need to dress for supper.” Thea muttered it was an argument they’ve had before.

“Mother, I do believe I am old enough now, that I can get away with this.” As long as he was polite about it, “Would you please ease up on Thea a little bit. She’s not an angry little turd of 13 like she was before.” No, she was just a grown up one.

"Is it too much to ask that you dress appropriately for supper?" Exasperation wearing on her eyes. "Fine, fine. You want to dress as rag tags for supper, be my guest" Fixing herself a small plate of finger foods after she laid her napkin across her knee.
"Fix yourselves some food, don't let it go to waste."

Thea had to wonder if her mom was relenting because of Oliver or because she just no longer wished to argue that her children should dress for dinner rather than wear what they had on. Either way Thea was just glad that it did not continue. Ok so maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to dress a little, but honestly she was just too tired to trudge up the stairs and come back down. All for something to eat. She was not against making a plate of food though.

Oliver tried at least. He did hear what Thea said, but he was still just in his uniform, as he’d just gotten off shift before they came down there. Picking up his duffle and bringing it in, set just to the left of the door. Joining them over at the table, not needing to look at what was there. He already smelled it. It could be smelled all the way down the drive. Of course it was good, and ‘almost’ as always, Oliver waited for Thea to sit first as well.

Thea had left her duffle by the door as well near Olivers and after getting some finger food she sat down figuring Oliver was being polite while at home and was waiting for her to sit. It's one of the things their mother had taught both of them was to be polite.

"Tell me everything my darlings

Thea cleared her throat looking to her brother to start.

“Why do I have to start?” Said only after he had finished chewing what he had in his mouth and swallowed.

“Because you’ve been away the longest I’m sure mother would prefer to hear you out first.” Thea told her brother, also only after swallowing.

Oliver leaned back in the chair, shaking his head, “I think you should first. We all already know mine. Assimilated, found, fixed.”

“Oh so you’ve told mom all about how your actually the First officer on the Roddenberry? Well then I shall keep it just as simple. I joined the Roddy during my first visit to Oliver and have been there ever since. Granted I have changed stations a few times and I’m still only an Ensign, but I will hopefully be back in Engineering soon since they do not need me in tactical and never have. You’ll love this one though mom I was in Science for a bit even helped to create a cure for a few viruses.” Thea said keeping it as short and sweet as possible. She hated talking about herself.

He gave a little smirk, “No, but you just did.” Standing up, after snapping his fingers. “Oh I just remembered. I’ll be right back, if you two will excuse me for a moment.” Turning and heading to go upstairs. He was making sure that something he’d gotten/made for Thea was transported down right to her bedroom. It had. Picking it up off of the floor and putting it on the bed. Turning around to head back down to the dining room.

Patting Thea's knee, she smiled sweetly at her daughter. "That's nice dear, I'm sure one day you will excel." She then turned to her son, "Oliver what have you gotten up to and why didn't you tell me you were the First officer." Moira clapped her hands together with excitement. "I always knew you would be important. One day you will be Captain! That old Captain you have now had better watch himself,my handsome young son will steal his job away from him." Giggling with more excitement than she typically showed was an oddity indeed.

“We were trying to not die, Mother, or let other people die. We are a little busy. I’m sorry I didn’t at least give updates like I used to,” looking down at his feet. “I’m sorry, Momma,” Oliver only ever called her that anymore when he knew he was in trouble.

Thea rolled her eyes of course their mother would think her accomplishments trivial in comparison to Olivers. She loved her brother dearly, but constantly being reminded that she was inferior to him was trying sometimes. “Oh grow up, She’s not mad at her paragon of virtue, now what is it you snuck away to check on brother dear before mother gets it in her head to shower you with more praise.” Thea said though in a teasing tone. If only her padd was in her pocket rather than in her duffle maybe she would have gotten the invite to go swimming.

Without another word, he got up, nodded to both of them and went to the front door. Getting both bags, his steps took him back upstairs to put their bags on the appropriate beds.

Thea watched her brother go and reached for her drink glaring daggers at his back as he left her alone with their mother.

"Thea dear I'm proud of you also, you just haven't reached your full potential and I know you will. Maybe I do dote on him a bit much but he is my only son, which we almost lost." Moira gave a soft sigh. "I just wish you hadn't gone galavanting off in your father and brothers footsteps." Moira finished her food and washed it down with her tea.

“Yes well I was planning on going to find Oliver or Dad or even both and dragging them back here so you could focus your attention on them again for a change rather than spending all your mothering on me.” Thea said with as wide a grin as she could possibly give. She was trying not to fight with her mother, but she had always loved the stars even as a kid while her brother was off chasing some tail which was what got him in trouble. It was the reason their father had wanted to take him on that trip to begin with.

"Well you are my only daughter, what is so wrong with wanting more for you? Our time is short, I don't want to fight and argue a losing battle. You have always done your own thing and I do love what a beautiful, strong woman you are even though I know I don't tell you enough." Giving her daughter the most loving, sincere smile she could.

Thea blinked at her mom it was probably the nicest thing she’s heard from her since before her brother and father disappeared on them. “Are you dying mom?” She asked only half joking.

With a very audible tsk… "Well I can see you haven't lost your cynicism. I will ensure to save the sincerity when you're in a more agreeable mood." She called in the butler to clear the food and freshen their tea.

“Mom, I was only joking.” Thea said as she took a sip of her drink wondering what was keeping Oliver.

Speak of the devil, he’d changed his mind from just taking the bags up and just back down. Oliver had gone ahead and taken a quick shower. Coming back down to rejoin them.

“Welcome back, what you got lost?” Thea asked her brother with a slight glare at having left her alone with their mom, though it wasn’t as bad this time it seems.

“Slightly.”

"Is there anything in particular you want to do? I was hoping we could go out on the lake for a few hours if you felt up to it."

“The lake was always the best part of the summer.” Thea said without thinking.

Oliver came back down and gave a look, “Why is the food gone?” Heading to the fridge to get something else to pick at. “We could.”

"Perfect!" A solid clap of her hands, Moira smiled "I will have Carson ready the boat and supper on the boat. Well my dear son you just up and disappeared upstairs, I figured you were finished."

He shook his head, “I was simply letting yall talk and put the bags up, but I felt like a shower.”

“Well then I’m going to go change,” Thea said getting up and following Oliver first to grab a banana before heading up to her old room where she knew her mom still kept all of her things. Not to mention her bag was up there.

Having Carson ready the boat and the cook ready the food since there was a change in plans, Moira went to her room and put together a bag with her swimsuit and coverup after she changed her clothes for boating with her children.

Oliver still hadn’t changed out of his uniform, regardless of the shower. Though there was a bag being made up for the day out. It didn’t take him long, and was simply waiting out by the boat. Checking over things.

Thea would return wearing a blue one piece bathing suit, with a wrap around skirt and flip flops on. The last bite of her banana in her mouth as she tossed the skins. “Ready.” She grinned.

Walking out moments after her daughter, Moira handed her bag to Oliver before stepping from the dock to the boat. "Shall we?" Her hand flourished motion for them to part from the dock to the open water.

Oliver went and secured the bag, and whatever else required from them. Taking up the helm. At least for the start off that is.

Thea moved to get on the boat behind her brother she could use a little of the sun an fun variety. Though she was kinda surprised that her mother had suggested it. They hadn’t been to the lake house in quite sometime.

—---------------------------------------------

After swimming and boating they had a nice supper of fried chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs and various chips. They slowly went back to the dock as the sun was setting and made plans for the rest of the time they were in to visit their mother.

Thea had more fun than she thought she would even splashed her mom a bit and was looking forward to the rest of their time for a change.

Oliver played around with them for a bit, though, mostly kept on the boat. Watching things. Taking the images in, so he wasn’t just part of it. He could see it. The expressions, see the feelings.
