Mission: Where do we go from here?
Location: Holodeck 2

Joint Duty Log: Reporting the Test Findings (Pt. 2)
By: Lt. Felicity Storm, Ens. Thea Queen, Ens. Laurel Lance, and Capt. Ravynn Phoenix.

Since Laurel was closest to the door she exited the room first and moved off to the side to wait for the others.

"Yes, Lieutenant," Thea said and moved to follow Laurel.

"Did you ever go take a look at what we discussed yesterday, Thea?" Moving to follow the two of them.

A message popped up on her PADD from Lt. Smoke. Pinching the bridge of her nose a moment, she put the PADD on her utility belt. "Commander, you have the bridge. I'm going to holodeck 2 if you need me." Ravynn disappeared into the turbo lift and made her way to holodeck 2.

When she arrived Ens. Queen was waiting for her. "Hello Thea," said with a soft half-smile. "I thought I was meeting with just Lt. Smoke."

"You are, but you're also meeting me and Ens. Lance. I um I came up with a way that may 'cloak' us if you have a minute to look at it?" Thea asked as she held out her PADD to the Captain and looked at Lt. Smoke and Ens. Lance.

"Computer load program Refractive Shielding," Thea said to the computer, after a few beeps the computer informed has as being ready she stepped into the engineering bay of the Roddenberry-A and waited for everyone else to join her.

Laurel walked into the holodeck just after Thea had entered with the Captain. "I think you will be impressed with what Ens. Queen has come up with."

"If it will get us home, I will make the time but time is one thing we are running out of," said with a soft sigh. Phoenix gave Lance a polite nod. Ensign glad to see you joining us. "Show me what you have."

"Okay, basically what we have is refractive shielding, Ens. Lance helped me work on this to get out as many bugs as the program showed." Thea said moving to the console. "Computer run program."

As the computer acknowledged the order, Thea moved to the engineering console of the bridge and activated the refractive shielding. On the screen, they would see a group of Suliban warships. Morgensen at Tactical had already raised the red alert to let the crew know to be ready just in case.

The Scenario was the same as it had been during their own test from the engineering standpoint. The Roddenberry-A with the modified shields continued along the path towards the wormhole getting as close to the suliban ships as was able and still not register on sensors or sight all the way to the wormhole. Where the program froze. Thea then turned to the Captain for her thoughts on it.

Being quite impressed, she dare not breathe a sigh of relief or let her guard down at the moment filled with relief. This looked almost too good to be true. "Thea is this in any way going to diminish our shield? Weak spots in our shield are not something we can afford right now."

Laurel watched the simulation, "We've looked at several possible scenarios. While neither of us has probably thought of all possible situations, I am confident that Ens. Queen has considered a considerable number. I firmly believe that this will work."

"During the test, we ran the only probably that we really came up across was the fact that the Suliban ships are running on a red matter core. It's why those suliban ships we faced last time had core overloads so easily they are admitting a gravitational pull, so I used an opposite polarity to compensate for the gravitation pull. The only other thing that has been brought to my attention is the spacial particulars that the deflector naturally pushes aside. However, I think those will cause us minimal problems as the program has shown." Thea explained her thoughts on this.

A polite nod to Lance's comment and carefully listening to Ens. Queen.
"It may or may not be a long shot, but it seems the only solution at this point." Ravynn turned to leave then turned back.
"How long until this is implemented into our system making it usable?"

Laurel looked over at Thea and then back to the Captain, "Ens. Queen already has the algorithm which can be uploaded to our system immediately. Adding the refractive elements however could take at least two days, possibly more." She glanced at Thea for confirmation and clarification. Since that was something they hadn't really discussed.

"That about sums it up," Felicity said.

"Well um actually, because of the testing I can cut down the time it'll take to activate the refractive shielding to at least 24 hours," Thea admitted which was probably more than enough time to get it up and running she could probably even shave off a few more hours.

"Activate it immediately. At this point we have nothing, but everything to lose. Thea, can this be done on the engineering console on the bridge?"

"Yes it can, I can also monitor the deflector control from that station as well and see how the new shields will affect them," Thea said with a nod and a smile.

"We still have to do the leg work, as they said, which will take time, Captain." Felicity crinkled her nose.

"Very well. Thea, you come with me to the bridge, Felicity and Laurel you take care of necessary business from engineering. Is there anything else?"

"No Ma'am," Thea said PADD in hand with all of her sensor data and algorithms on it for the refractive shielding.

Felicity nodded, "Well you heard the lady. Let's go to work." Nodding again to Laurel.

As Ravynn and Thea headed for the bridge, both quiet for the moment. "Thea if this works you will have 3 days off once we get back. And to think you almost ended your career." Ravynn said nothing more. Even if it didn't work, Thea showed much promise and this in itself made Ravynn proud of Thea's motivation. She dare not say anything till all said and done.

Laurel followed the chief as they headed back to engineering, "I hope I estimated the time we'll need correctly. 2 or 3 days doesn't feel long enough now."

"I hope it works Captain because if it does it'll help us even after we leave this time-line," Thea said hoping it worked she was very excited about it.
